Operating systems that the Cinema Pro supports?
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0
NOTE: The WinTV Cinema Pro will run under Windows2000 if the board is a "REV C" or higher. "Rev C" Cinema Pro cards have a set of jumpers that have to be configured horizontally (NT position) to support Windows2000. Version 4.01 drivers and application must also be used in Windows2000.
These can be found here.
General Information
The Cinema Pro is an ISA slot 3/4 length board. It uses an external VGA loop cable to overlay the video to the PC, by connecting between the VGA card and the monitor.
The Cinema Pro will capture still frames and can save them to your hard drive in various formats- BMP, JPG,etc.
The Cinema Pro will capture .AVI files in 320 X 240 or smaller on Win 95/98 systems. Video capture is not supported under NT.
Installation
If your Cinema Pro model is equipped with a small 2 pin jumper, be sure it is set correctly for your operating system. (Vertical default for Win95/98, horizontal for nt) After plugging the Cinema Pro board into an available ISA slot, disconnect the VGA monitor cable from the Video card, connect the Provided VGA loop cable to the Cinema Pro board, and plug the small end to the VGA card(where the monitor was disconnected from). Connect the Monitor to the other cable end of the Cinema Pro. Boot up the system.
Installation notes for WIN 95/98:
The Cinema Pro board is a Plug n Play device, so Windows should detect the presence of new hardware when you boot up. Insert the Floppy Application disk into the drive and point the hardware wizard to the A: drive. Window should load the drivers at this point for the device. Lastly, run SETUP from the application diskette(start-Run A:\Setup). This will install the Cinema Pro application software. Next, run setup from the Accessories diskette to install the WinTV CAPTURE application, which will be used for .AVI clip captures. Once complete, you are ready to run the program.
Installation notes for Windows NT 4.0:
Be sure that "Plug 'n Play operating system" is DISABLED in the BIOS. Boot up into Win NT, and log in as the Administrator. Download the Cinema Pro Nt driver 2.51 and run this executable file to install. Power down the system completely, and reboot, logging back in as administrator. Download and install the new WinTVCinema Pro Application 4.01 to load the WinTV application. Choose No for Video capture and MCI interface during the setup. Choose Yes for teletext
only if you have a PAL board(Europe, overseas). You should now be ready to run the program. Under nt, you can check Control Panel-Devices to confirm that the driver is loaded and started properly. It will be listed as "WINTV IO"
Running the WinTV Program for the first time
You will be asked to configure the hardware. Be sure that a valid I/O port, Memory range, and IRQ setting address is indicated, and click OK to configure. If it does not configure, try choosing a different I/O port address. For WIN NT: set the IRQ and Memory to NONE. The only resource needed for nt is the I/O port address.
The default I/O port address would be 500h-50fh. To see which I/O ports are being used under nt, go to Start-Programs-Administrative Tools-Windows Nt diagnostics. Click Resources- I/O port. The listed I/O ports are being used by Windows Nt. After setting the I/O port and clicking Configure, power the system completely down, and then reboot.
When the application opens, you will be asked to align the display. Change the X and Y axis so the video appears in between the lines and fits properly into the box. There will always be a 1 pixel Magenta line on the left side of the display. Once set, click OK.
WinTV only shows a Magenta screen
- Be sure that the VGA Loop cable is connected properly, and the monitor is plugged into this, and not the VGA card.
- Be sure that the WinTV board is seated properly, and firmly into the ISA slot, and that the edge connector is not dirty.
- Try setting a Different I/O port address, as there may be a resource conflict.
- In the WinTV program, click Configure-Display, and try clicking the Default button.
Poor/garbled still image capture
Try changing the I/O port address. Generally, the WinTV application also will fail if the I/O address is in conflict or invalid.
Changing the Resources
Go to Device Manager, and look under Sound, video, and Game controllers. There will be a "WinTV Pro Series" Listed here. Double click on it, and go to Resources. Highlight the I/O or memory address and uncheck "Use Automatic settings" Click the change setting button to change the address, and click "Click here to program changes".
Error: "Non critical error: Invalid Library procedure copy single file" (NT 4.0)
-Indicates the incorrect wintv driver is loaded, or not loaded at all. Download and install the Wintv Cinema Pro Nt driver 2.51
WinTV application locks the system in NT
- Be sure the jumpers are set for the nt position(if the board is equipped with them) and the latest NT Cinema Pro application(4.01) is loaded.
- Change the I/O port address on the board and reboot.
Hardware will not configure with Crystal Audio soundchip under NT 4.0
If the board does not configure, and you keep getting the "hardware configuration" window no matter what I/O setting is being used, and there is a Crystal Audio soundchip in the system, you must follow this procedure: -Go to Control Panel-Devices and highlight the CS32BA11 driver. Click startup, and click Disable.
Try to reconfigure the WinTV. Once the Wintv is configured and working, restart the system. The Crystal audio should automatically
reconfigure itself upon bootup. If it does not, go back to control panel-Devices and manually start the driver.
WinTV does not display on a secondary monitor in a dual monitor configuration:
WinTV will display on the Primary monitor only, not the secondary.
Capturing Video (Win95/98 only)
In order to capture .AVI clips with the Cinema Pro "Wintv capture" application, you must set the VGA Display resolution to 640 X 480. Open the Wintv capture application(be sure the main WINTV program is off) and choose Options- Video format. Set the video format to either YUV 411 or 422, and the image dimensions to 320 X 240 or less. Click Ok. Choose View-Preview. The video should be displayed here, and ready for capture(it will display as a reduced frame rate "preview"). If the image is distored in preview mode, try changing the Memory range setting for the Cinema Pro. Once the memory range is valid, the Preview should show the correct picture.
You can now capture .avi clips by choosing Capture-Capture video.
Capture locks up the system
Check the model #- REV B, B1, and B1M2 may need to be sent in for a hardware change.
