What Operating Systems can I use the WinTV-HD board on?
The WinTV-HD board can be installed on Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.
Installation Error: "Error 69"
- Half way through the Add New Hardware Wizard , you might be asked to insert your original Windows Operating System CD ROM. Do so and hit OK. Note: you do not have to use the same Windows installation CD Rom, but you have to use the same version of WIndows which was originally install on your PC.
- You will be asked to select your CD ROM drive. A number of files will be copied to your Hard disk.
- After these files are copied to your hard disk, an error will occur. Error code 69. Click Finish.
- Open Device Manager by right clicking on the MY COMPUTER icon and click on Properties. Open Other PCI card and click on Prperties and then click on Reinstall Driver. When asked for the Windows 98 CD, DO NOT INSERT THE WINDOWS CD, but instead, leave the Hauppauge WinTV HD Installation CD ROM in your CD ROM drive. Click OK then Skip file several times until finished.
Recommended procedure for viewing full screen TV mode
Click the "rabbit ears" icon (TV Mode Icon) in the WinTV2000 application to view full screen TV. It is not recommended to stretch the window with the mouse, as by doing this, the clarity of the picture will not be adequate. This is because even though it is full screen, the video is transferring over PCI with the VGA card doing the upscaling. Using the TV mode icon allows the Decoder chip on the WinTV board to do the upconverting and then drives the screen itself- resulting in a sharper picture.
Can I capture video with the WinTV-HD board?
Yes, with the latest updated software, you may capture HD broadcasts and save them to the harddisk. The files are saved to a transport stream format(.trp) and you can play back a recorded HDTV show within a window from the hard drive.
Can I view Multicasting with the WinTV-HD board?
Yes, run the UsemulticastPSIP.reg file from the WinTV CD rom, which is located in the DTV folder. Once activated, open the WinTV application and right click on the channel number inside the WinTV display, and the choices should appear.
