Frequently asked questions when installing and using the WinTV
This document describes what the user will see while installing the WinTV PCI driver under Windows 95 OSR2.

After installing the WinCast/TV or Win/TVpci board in your PC, and turning on the power to the PC, Windows 95 Plug-and-Play will recognize that a new PCI Multimedia Video device has been seen. You should see this Window.Now, insert the Hauppauge WinCast/TV CD-ROM, or the WinCast/TV Driver diskette.

The next window will appear automatically after Windows 95 has determined that this device is the Hauppauge WinCast/TV or Win/TVpci.Click on Finish.
Find the location of the WinCast driver
Type in the drive letter of the driver CD-ROM or diskette.For example, if your CD-ROM is in drive D:, then type D:\Or, click on Browse to see a list of drives in your PC.
Browse for Folder
If you have clicked on Browse, you will see this window. You can see the list of all the drives available in your PC. Scroll down until you see the WinCast/TV CD-ROM icon. If you are installing the driver from diskette, then click up to (A:)Here we have moved to the CD-ROM, which is Hauppauge (D:)
Click on O.K. or Cancel. It really doesn't matter which because you
will still need to type in the drive letter in the next menu.
Select the location of the WinCast driver
You type in the drive letter of the driver CD-ROM or diskette. For example, type D:\

Part of the way through the driver installation, you might see this window, which means Windows 95 cannot find one of the driver files. Simply retype in the drive letter of the driver CD-ROM or diskette. For example, type D:\

Now you need to tell Windows95 where to find the driver file. Locate the DRV subdirectory. For example, type D:\drv

Once again, retype in the drive letter of the driver CD-ROM or diskette. For example, type D:\
The driver continues to install
You will now see the progress as Windows 95 installs the rest of the driver.
The WinCast driver has now been installed
After the WinCast driver has been completely installed, you will be asked to reboot your PC. Click Yes to do so.
Checking that the WinCast driver has been correctly installed
We suggest that you check the WinCast driver after it has been installed. After rebooting your PC, go into Device Manager, open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. You should see Hauppauge WinCast/TV listed. Double click on this and you should see the Hauppauge WinCast/TV Properties sheet.
If you would like to see which system resources have been assigned to the WinCast/TV by Windows 95, click on Resources.
You are now ready to install any program which uses the WinCast/TV, such as the WinTV, Win/TV Capture and most video conferencing applications such as Vocaltec IPhone, Smith Micro's AudioVision, CU-SeeMe, Microsoft NetMeeting, Intel VideoPhone, etc.
